How we approach this at University Physical Medicine
Joint, gait, and hip-strength assessment — knees rarely fail in isolation.
Joint mobilization, soft-tissue therapy, and shockwave for chronic tendon cases.
Targeted strengthening for the quad, hip, and posterior chain that protect the joint.
Honest conversation about regenerative options (PRP, stem cell) when conservative care plateaus and the imaging warrants it.
Individual results may vary. Our providers will recommend a plan based on your evaluation.
Questions patients ask about this
Can I avoid a knee replacement?
It depends on the structural state and your goals. Many patients with mild-to-moderate OA do well long-term on conservative care plus regenerative options. Bone-on-bone end-stage disease often does need surgical replacement — we'll be honest about which side of the line you're on.
